Day Three In vegetative ( World of seeds, Afgan Kush)

This is day 3 in vegetative stage of my World of Seeds, Afgan Kush plants that I sprouted from seed.
I started with 6 but 1 died.  I then accidentally burned 2 plants with a foliage feeding.   Funny thing is that  all  5 plants were foliage fed the same but only two burned.

Im showing 3 pheno-types. 
 Phenotype One:      Medium sized about 7" at this point,  broad leaves. 
Pheno-type Two:    Short, extra fat leaves, bushy and about 5" at this point.
Pheno-type Three:  Tall,  has thinner leaves than the rest and is about are about 8" at this point.

I have identified each plant with a colored star sticker.
Gold Star:    Pheno-type One
Green Star:  Pheno-type One
Silver Star:  Pheno-type Two
Red Star:     Pheno-type Three
Blue Star:    Pheno-type Thee

 I have been feeding them daily.

World of seeds Afgan Kush (Day 1 of vegetative stage)

I have just started a new grow.  These plants have been grown from seed.  This time around I will be keeping daily notes on my blog so that I can track the daily progress of the plants.  Each plant will have a colored star so that we can identify it though out its life cycle.

Specs.

Seed company:         World Of Seeds (Afgan Kush) Landrace strain.

Medium:                   100 % General Hydroponics COCOTEK

Base Nutrients:         General Hydroponics (Maxigro)

Suplements:              General Hydroponics (Diamond Nectar)
                                  GroTek (Pro-Silicate)
                                  Xtreme Gardening (Calcarb) 
                                  Epsom Salt (store brand)
                                  Agrozyme Plus
                                  Growmore (Seaweed Extract)

Container:                1.75 gallon pots

Grow Tent:               No name brand.   E-bay bought

Lighting:                  First 3 weeks -   Eiko 105 watt CFL(400 watt equivalent)
                                 Sunlight Supply ( Super sun Reflector 1)
                                 last weeks - 400 wattt digital Ballast)
                                 Hydrofarm (Cool Tube Reflector)

Ventilation:              6" Inline fan (no name brand,  Ebay bought)

Since this was my first time growing weed from seed,  I decided to try the three most commonly used methods of germination.

I lost one seed but  was able to bring 5 plants in to vegetative stage.

My first grow

I have never grown anything in my life.  I thought it would be cool to try grow some personal medical marijuana.     I had a lot of nutrient lock out and PH problems at the beginning of the grow but was able to work them out before flowering.

Strawberry bubblegum ( strawberry cough x bubblegum kush)  50% sativa 50 % indica.
Progressive Options Clone.  Pogenetics.com
 
2x4 grow tent

Lumatek 400 digital ballast

Hydrofarm 6" cool tube reflector

4" inline fan and carbon filter

Fan speed controller

Fox farm nutrients.  Grow, big bloom, and tiger bloom.

When I first started the grow I wasn't expecting to much. This was my first grow and I knew I was going to run into problems.  The plants yield were on the light side.  I burned through it in about a month.  I received something that was more valuable than the medicine itself.... experiance.
In this post I 'd like to share what lessons I learned through trial and error.

Brick Coco Coir is dirty! Flush , flush! flush! Flush. I used Earth Juice Procoir.  This stuff had lots of salts.  Water would go in at 125 PPM and run off 2500 ppm.  I made the mistake of only flushing with 1 gallon of water which resulted in Nutrient burn.


PH is everything.  You need a PH meter or testing drops.
I did not have a PH meter at the start of my grow.  My plants were locked out .
Your plants cannot absorb any nutrients if you are not in the correct PH, no matter how much you feed them.

Less nutrients not more.
If you use less nutrients and you have a deficiency you can always add a little more and get them healthy.  If you use too much your plants will burn, no coming back from that.

And last but not least.....

You don't grow your weed ,  It grows itself.   All you do is provide the environment to make them comfortable.
